Alex Tachie-Mensah

Alexander "Alex" Tachie -Mensah (born 15 February 1977 Accra ) is a former Ghanaian football player. He was primarily striker, but could also be used in the midfield.

He began his career in Ghana with the Dwarfs, before he moved to the highest Swiss league 2000 Neuchâtel Xamax. In 2002 he then moved to FC St. Gallen. In Switzerland, he was able to achieve a total of 75 goals in 190 first division matches.

He played on Christmas day 2001 against the selection of Mali for the first time for the national team of his home, as well as the Africa Cup of 2002, but he was then very rarely used, so he was not in the squad for the African Nations Cup in 2006, he denied even a single qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup; nevertheless Tachie -Mensah was appointed to the banns of his home for the 2006 World Cup. There he came to three brief appearances, including in the second round against Brazil.

On 9 June 2009 Tachie -Mensah announced his resignation. After two serious injuries ( dislocation and later an infection ) occurred in each case to any great comeback more because the club doctors could no longer guarantee their return to top-level sport. Tachie -Mensah had to end his career.

After end of his career he worked from 2009 until the summer of 2011 as a youth coach at FC Frauenfeld.

Since summer 2011, he leads a kyBoot shoe store in Frauenfeld.
