Alexander (grandson of Seleucus I Nicator)

Alexandros (Greek Ἀλέξανδρος ), son of Achaeus, was a governor of the Seleucid Empire in the 3rd century BC.

As a brother of Laodice I. Alexandros was a son of Achaeus the Elder and connected via this perhaps with the Seleukidendynastie. Apparently Alexandros had already served ( 281-261 BC ) under Antiochus I, if it is identical with that same name person who was employed at an unknown date by the king as governor ( satrap ) in Lydia.

While it Heresy of his nephews King Seleucus II and Antiochus Hierax had Alexandros beaten on the side of the latter and made available as base for this city his capital Sardis. His brother Andromachus and his son, the younger Achaeus had fought for the King.
