Alexander Kaidanovsky

Alexander Leonidovich Kaidanowski (also: Aleksandr Kaidanovsky; Russian Александр Леонидович Кайдановский; born July 23, 1946 in Rostov-on- Don, † December 3, 1995 in Moscow) was a Soviet actor.

Life

Kaidanowski studied at the drama school of his birthplace, and worked thereafter with the local theater. His first film role was played Kaidanowski in V. Achadows film Anyone traveling to Truskawez. The mid-1970s, he starred in the historical adventure films. His international breakthrough as well as the height of his career he reached in 1979 by the title role in Andrei Tarkovsky's Stalker work.

In the following years Kaidanowski worked alongside his acting career in feature films and TV productions as a scriptwriter and director.

In December 1995 Kaidanowski died of cancer.
