Alexander Knaifel

Alexander Aronowitsch Knaifel (Russian Александр Аронович Кнайфель; born November 28, 1943 in Tashkent / Uzbekistan) is a Russian composer and former cellist. Often his ancestry is misinterpreted as Uzbek, with Knaifel only due to the evacuation of its parents ( Aron Iosifovich Knaifel and Muza Veniaminovna Shapiro ) was born in Leningrad, Tashkent. He grew up in Leningrad.

He studied and lives in Saint Petersburg. Great success he celebrated, among other things in Amsterdam at the premiere of his opera Alice in Wonderland in 2001, the Eclat Festival in Stuttgart in 2005.
