Alexander the Great Marathon
The Alexander - the - Great Marathon (Greek Διεθνής Μαραθώνιος " Μέγας Αλέξανδρος ."; Engl name International Marathon " Alexander The Great " ) is a marathon, which takes place between the Pella, birthplace of Alexander the Great, and Thessaloniki since 2006. It therefore combines the capital of ancient Macedonia with that of the present-day Greek region of Macedonia. Is organized by the race of MEAS Triton Thessaloniki. The program of the event includes a 5 - and a 10 - km run.
Route
The start is on the main square of Pella before the Alexander statue. After one kilometer the National Road 2 is reached, the one, follows on Chalkidona and Agios Athanasios, where half of the track is mastered by Eleftherio - Kordelio. On the Monastiriou Street Menemeni is crossed and headed towards the city center of Thessaloniki.
