Alexander von Wagner

Sándor Wagner; German: Alexander von Wagner; ( Born April 16, 1838 in Pest, † January 19, 1919 in Munich) was a Hungarian painter.

He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Henrik Weber, then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Carl Theodor von Piloty. In the period 1869-1910 he was a professor of historical painting at the Munich Academy. Among his students were, inter alia, Pál Szinyei Merse, Emil Wiesel, Anton Ažbe, Stanisław Lentz, Franciszek Zmurko.
