Alexandria is a city in Campbell County in the U.S. state of Kentucky, which is located on State Road 27 just eight miles south of Newport. According to the population census of 2000, there were 8,286 residents in the city. The small town is also the county seat of Campbell County.

Geography

History

The area was settled after 1793 by a family named Spillman and received about 1819 a separate post office. Its name from the city probably from their older model Alexandria in Virginia.
