Alexey Cherkassky

Prince Alexei Mikhailovich Cherkassky ( Russian Алексей Михайлович Черкасский, * September 28, 1680; † November 4, 1742 ) was a Russian Chancellor under Empress Elizabeth.

Life

Cherkassky was a member of the Russian nobility, and was born in 1680 as a descendant of Prince Michael Cherkassky, who came from a Circassian princely family.

From 1702 Alexei Cherkassky served for ten years his father Prince Michael Cherkassky, who managed the Russian city of Tobolsk. 1714 Alexei Cherkassky in St. Petersburg as a member of the Committee on City Planning.

Cherkassky 1719 by Peter I. was appointed governor of Siberia, and in 1726 a member of the ruling Senate. With his second wife Princess Maria Trubezkaja Cherkassky 1714 had a daughter, Varvara.
