Alexey Kaledin

Kaledin military training included the military school in Voronezh, the Mikhailovskoie Artillery School in St. Petersburg (1882 ), and the General Staff Academy, 1889. From 1903 to 1906 he served as head of the military school in Novocherkassk. 1906-1910 he was the General Staff of the Don Army. During the First World War he commanded the 12th Cavalry Division and commanded the 8th Army during the Brusilov offensive. Kaledins opposed the February Revolution and was relieved of his post because he did not comply with the requirement of the Provisional Government to democratize the army. On August 29, the local authorities advised the Prime Minister Kerensky, sell Kaledins and get arrested because he had operated propaganda against the government. It was then initiated a criminal case against him. The Cossacks, however, did not accept this, but sent him to Mogilev to a personal interview with Kerensky.
