Alexey Miller

Alexei Borisovich Miller (Russian Алексей Борисович Миллер; born January 31, 1962 in Leningrad) is the chairman of the Russian group Gazprom.

Miller comes from a ethnic German family in Leningrad. Until 1984 he studied at the Voznesensky Institute of Finance and Economics. In the 1980s he belonged to groups that deal with economic reforms, with which also Anatoly Chubais was connected. Prior to joining Gazprom, he worked in the city administration.

In May 2001 he was appointed by Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Board of Gazprom. He thus replaced from Rem Wjachirew. Miller was instrumental in the restructuring of the Group from 2001 to 2005.

Miller is considered to be a loyal follower of Putin and one of the most powerful men in Russia. Forbes magazine listed him in 2013 for the first time among the most powerful people in the world.
