Alexis-Joseph Delzons

Alexis -Joseph Delzons ( born March 26, 1775 in Aurillac, † October 24, 1812 at the Battle of Maloyaroslavets ) was a French general of the infantry.

Life

Delzons was a son of the municipal employees Delzons Antoine and his wife Marianne Crespine Hébrard; the revolutionary Pierre Hébrard (1750-1802) on his mother's uncle. His younger brother, Jean -Baptiste (1787-1812) also proposed a military career and died in 1812 on the same battlefield.

At sixteen Delzons joined the army in 1791 and made very quickly during the revolutionary wars career. He fought at La Junquera (1794 ) and was wounded; also at the siege of Roses ( → Castell de la Trinitat ) in the same year, he was distinguished by bravery.

After subsequent promotions Delzons took 1796/97 to Napoleon's campaign in Italy in part. He could at Montenotte (April 12, 1796), Dego ( 14-15. April 1796 ), Mondovi ( 20./22. April 1796 ) and Lodi (10 May 1796) are characterized by courage and bravery. He participated in the siege of Mantua, and was taken prisoner; but eight days later he could be replaced. He participated in the Battle of Rivoli ( 14-15. January 1797 ) and was wounded.

After his recovery Delzons volunteered for a campaign to Egypt. In the rank of general, he came to the Nile and fought among others in the Battle of the Pyramids ( 25-26. July 1812 ).

Back in France in the Napoleonic Wars led Delzons own command under General Auguste Frédéric Louis Viesse de Marmont. After the Peace of Schönbrunn (14 October 1809), he was most often entrusted with military- administrative tasks.

1812 took Delzons the staff of Eugène Beauharnais in part in the Russian campaign. He could before Ostrowno ( 25-26 July 1812. ) And Maloyaroslavets (24 October 1812), in turn, distinguished by bravery; in the latter battle he was mortally wounded.
