Alfred Hillebrandt

Alfred Hillebrandt ( born March 15, 1853 in United Nädlitz, Lower Silesia, † October 18, 1927 in German - Lissa ) was a philologist and professor in Breslau.

Life

Hillebrandt studied philology at the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelm University. In 1872 he became a member of the Corps Marcomannia Wroclaw. In Breslau he was 1875 Dr. phil. doctorate and habilitation in 1877. 1883 he was appointed extraordinary professor of Sanskrit in 1887 to full professor (emeritus 1921).

He wrote about 50 works on ancient Indian culture and became one of the largest Sanskritologen. He became the go. Appointed Governing Council and appointed to the Prussian House. 1901/ 02 and 1910/11 he was Rector of the Silesian Friedrich Wilhelm University.
