Alfred-Philibert Aldrophe

Alfred -Philibert Aldrophe (* 1834, † 1895) was a Jewish architect who was employed by the City of Paris and the Paris Consistoire designed synagogues and other buildings.

Beginning

First Aldrophe worked as an architect of the city of Paris for the Universal Exhibitions of 1855 and 1867. For the Consistoire de Paris, he drew up the plans for the synagogue of the Rue de la Victoire (9th Arrondissement ), which was begun in 1867 and inaugurated in 1874. They describe their style as neo-Byzantine style. In 1886 he built the synagogue in Versailles in the Romanesque Revival style, also in Europe a style in synagogue architecture.

Orders of Gustave de Rothschild

Aldrophe was the primary architect of Gustave de Rothschild, for whom he built from 1873 to 1883, the Hôtel de Marigny in 23, avenue de Marigny, now an annexe of the Elysée Palace. Also built Aldrophe for Gustave de Rothschild from 1880, the Château des Hayes in Saint -Maximin near Chantilly ( Oise ). In Paris, he built the school Gustave de Rothschild in the Rue Claude Bernard, in the 5th arrondissement.

Late work

In 1873 he built the Hôtel Thiers on the Place Saint -Georges in Paris ( 9th arrondissement ), which is now the Fondation Thiers Dosne - hosts of the Institut de France. The facade, which ends with a balustrade, is inspired by the Louis XVI style, which was around 1870 in Fashion.

In 1894 he designed an elegant mansion, decorated with Ionic columns, for Alphonse Falco in the 39, avenue Henri -Martin in Paris ( 16th arrondissement ).
