This gives a population density of 832.2 inhabitants per km ².

The municipality is located on the banks of the Tagus, and was formerly a fishing village. Today Alhos Vedros is a suburb of the capital city of Lisbon, which always continues to spread in the environment. Alhos Vedros is next to Alcochete one of the oldest towns in this southern river bank.
