Alice Garner

Alice Garner (born 1969 ) is an Australian actress.

Life and achievements

Garner, the daughter of a writer and an actor, received a doctorate in French history at the University of Melbourne. She made her debut as a minor actress in a larger role in the film Monkey Grip Drama from 1982 with which a novel her mother was filmed in 1977. This role earned her a nomination in the same year for the Australian Film Institute Award, her mother advised her still on the acting career. After a six year hiatus, she played a major role in the film drama Lover Boy (1988 ), after which they had only a few guest appearances on television series in the five more years to the role alongside Noah Taylor in the drama The Nostradamus Kid ( 1993).

The role in the comedy Love and Other Catastrophes (1996 ) brought Garner in 1996 a further nomination for the AFI Award and in 1997 the Film Critics Circle of Australia Award. In the comedy Strange Planet ( 1999), she took over Claudia Karvan alongside Naomi Watts and one of the lead roles. For the soundtrack to the film drama One Night the Moon (2001) she received in 2002 along with several others involved the Australian Screen Music Award.

The actress is married and has three children. She has published two books: Your thesis and The Student Chronicles over their study period.
