Alison Balsom

Alison Balsom (born 1978 in Hertfordshire) is an English trumpeter.

She studied among others in London with John Miller at the Guildhall School of Music Junior Department, in Paris at the Conservatoire de Paris, where she graduated in 2001 with the highest distinction, and in Hardenberger. She has won numerous competitions trumpet. She became internationally known in 2002 with the debut album Music for Trumpet and Organ. In 2006, their album Caprice received the title Solo CD of the Year 2006 of the Brass Band World magazine.

In the years 2009 to 2011 she lived with the British conductor Edward Gardner. The two have a son, Charlie, who was born in the spring of 2010.
