Allen Daviau

John Allen Daviau ( born June 14, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States) is an American cinematographer.

Biography

Allen Daviau began his career in the 1960s as a cameraman for commercials for musicians, including Jimi Hendrix and The Who.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s he began his work on television and feature films expand. Above all, his collaboration with director Steven Spielberg was crucial Daviau has yet operating the camera with some of Spielberg's films, including 1982 ET - The Extra-Terrestrial.

Daviau was nominated five times for an Oscar in the category of Best Cinematography, but the trophy it was denied each time. He was honored in 2007 by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC ) with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
