Allersee

Artificial lake

The Allersee is a body of water in Wolfsburg ( Lower Saxony). It lies between the River Aller and the Mittelland Canal in Allerpark.

The result of the lake is in the years 1969 and 1970. Initially for the Aller was moved, then the lake was dredged. The ware was coated on the surrounding wetland so that a park-like landscape could be designed. On 3 September 1970, the Allersee was inaugurated. Already in 1970 it was planned to extend the lake in an easterly direction until shortly before pre- field; but this was never realized.

After a recess in the year 1987, the Allersee has a length of 1230 m, a width of 270 m and an average depth of 3 m, a water volume of around 1 million m³. The surface of the lake encompasses 29 acres.

The Allersee is a recreational area of Wolfsburg and is mainly used for bathing. In addition, there are opportunities for canoeing, rowing and sailing. On the north side there is a wooden bar used as a floating island.
