Alliance française

The Alliance française [ aljɑs fʀɑsɛz ] is an association founded in France in 1883 with the aim of spreading the French language abroad. Your umbrella organization in which 800 branches are merged with 1071 committees in 133 countries today, has its seat 101, Boulevard Raspail, 75006 Paris. There is also the Paris school of the Alliance française. The prices of the Alliance Française are visited annually worldwide about 440,000 attendees. In 1999, the school has taught at the Boulevard Raspail students from 187 countries.

As an independent association enjoys the cultural institute whose offices are closely woven into the cultural life of the host country, a high degree of autonomy. They are funded almost entirely by the proceeds of their courses and their other offers. In contrast to the Institut français institutes mentioned that pursue similar goals, but are under the branches of the French state, the French embassies abroad, and - just as the German Goethe -Institut and the British British Council - are financed through State resources, is only 5 % of the budget of the Alliance Française covered by government subsidies. In 2001, the Alliance Française signed a new framework agreement with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In Europe, the cultural institute is represented in 33 countries. It maintains no offices in Germany and Austria, where with their goals similar tasks are performed by the National Institute français.
