Allons (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence)
Allon is a commune of 138 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Alpes- de -Haute -Provence, Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. It belongs administratively to the district Castellane and the canton of Saint -André- les- Alpes and is a member of the Association of Municipalities Communauté de communes du Moyen Verdon.
Geography
The municipality is situated approximately 60 kilometers north- west of Nice and 30 kilometers southeast of Digne- les- Bains in the French Alps in the Regional Natural Park of Verdon. Neighboring municipalities are:
- Thorame -Haute in the north,
- Méailles in the Northeast,
- Le Fugeret in the east,
- Annot in the southeast,
- Vergons in the south,
- Angles In the southwest,
- Saint -André- les- Alpes to the west and
- La Mure -Argens in the northwest.
Allon is a classic mountain community, which is surrounded on the municipal boundary by hills, culminate all of the valley to the Pic de Chamatte (1879 m). The valley is drained by the river Ivoire with its spring-fed streams, which opens at the northwestern boundary of the municipality into the Verdon. The commune includes the hamlets Vauclause, La Moutière, La Forêt and the municipal seat of Allon.
Transport links
The community is located off over regional transport links. The nearest main road that is the Department of Road D9 55 in Verdontal from which the D 52 branches and the valley of Allons powered transport links. Also in Verdontal runs the narrow gauge railway Chemins de Fer de Provence, leading from Nice to Digne- les- Bains, near the hamlet of Vauclause the stop " Allons- Argens " has.
