Alnatura

The Alnatura production and Handels GmbH is a company of Biolebensmittelbranche based in Bickenbach in Darmstadt- Dieburg in Hesse. Under the brand name Alnatura the company founded in 1984, distributes according to ecological produced food and textiles, which are sold by various drugstores and retail chains as well as in the company's own Alnatura organic supermarkets.

History

The Alnatura production and Handels GmbH was founded in 1984 by the economist Götz Rehn as a consulting company under the name of development and sales of natural foods Dr. Rehn in Fulda, who is managing director until today. Initial plans to design the company as a branch for children clothing made of cotton or a chain of vegetarian cafeterias were discarded. A year later, the registration of Alnatura followed as word and figurative mark. 1986, the company began selling organic products in the food markets of tegut ... and the dm- drugstores, first with a "shop -in- shop" offering. On 1 October 1987, the first " Alnatura Super Natural Market " was opened in Mannheim. 1989 the company moved from Fulda to to its present location in Bickenbach. In the years that followed about thirty more branches were opened.

According to the company in 2005, more than half of all management positions were held by women. In the same year, the opening of the 25th branch, for which there are children discovering organic action called into life, in which the former Consumer Protection Minister Renate Künast was celebrated patron. In 2005 the company was awarded the first prize "Sustainable SME 2004" by the ethics Bank. Rehn was chosen by her in the following year for "Entrepreneur of the Year". Meanwhile ( May 2013) there are 77 Alnatura Super Natural markets in 39 cities and 3,400 branches of the trading partners in 13 countries.

The company was in the years 2009 and 2010 in the "Top 3 Most Sustainable Companies " of the German Sustainability Award, which distinguishes the greenest companies in Germany. 2011 Alnatura won the first prize and the title of " Germany's most sustainable companies. "

In 2012, the first Alnatura organic supermarket was opened in cooperation with Migros in Zurich.
