Aloha (crater)

2:55

Aloha is a very small impact craters on the moon. It is located in Oceanus Procellarum between the south extending Montes Agricola and the relatively inconspicuous moon groove Rima Cleopatra.

The indicating by name the crater was not originally intended as official. It was taken along with other unofficial designations small surface structures from the Topophotomap Maps by NASA by the IAU in 1976. The crater appears with this name on Topophotomap 38B2/S1.

The name itself will appear in a list as crater names provided for male and female first names in the Proceedings of the 16th General Assembly of the IAU (Grenoble 1976), that is not actually known as the Hawaiian greeting. He is not there identified as female, but appears as the IAU Planetary Gazetteer (see links).
