Alois Löcherer

Alois Löcherer ( born August 14, 1815 in Munich, † July 15, 1862 there ), was one of the early pioneers of photography in Bavaria and in Germany.

After studying pharmacy and chemistry in his hometown, he worked in a pharmacy. Already in 1839 had first recorded in Germany photographs after the daguerreotype process Franz von Hess Peter and Carl August von Steinheil in Munich. Löcherer turned very early to the Calotype. From about 1845, he practiced photography from professional. His studio on the ground floor of Karlsplatz 14 was one of the first in the city. Besides numerous portraits from the time of his shots from the cast and the mounting of the Bavaria statue have received. Among his students were Moritz Eduard Lotze, Franz Hanfstaengl and Joseph Albert.
