Aloun Ndombet-Assamba

Aloun Assamba ( born February 27, 1955 in Spanish Town, St. Catherine) is a Jamaican politician of the People's National Party ( PNP). She was from 2002 to 2007 Minister of Tourism and Culture. Since May 2012 she is Jamaican High Commissioner ( Ambassador ) in London.

Life

Assamba visited the Moneague Primary School, the Court remote and the Merl Grove High School, then studied at the Alpha Academy, the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School and at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. She has worked as a lawyer and businesswoman, including as deputy chairman of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission from 1994 to 2002 as general manager of the cooperative credit union the city of Kingston. In addition, she worked in management positions for various auxiliary and charities such as United Way of Jamaica, the Jamaica Cancer Society, the Dispute Resolution Foundation and the Association of Development Agencies.

During the government of Prime Minister Percival J. Patterson, she was appointed Senator in 1998. After Seymour Mullings in 2001, ambassador in Washington, DC ( USA), presented the PNP for the general election in 2002 Assamba as his successor as candidate in the constituency of St. Ann South East on. You could win the parliamentary seat and Patterson called them in October 2002 as Minister of Tourism, Entertainment and Culture to the cabinet. Assamba retired before the 2007 election of the representative politics back, her successor was as PNP candidate in the constituency of St. Ann South East Lisa Hanna.
