Alphons Huber

Alfons Huber ( born October 14, 1834 in Schlitters, Tyrol, † November 23, 1898 in Vienna ) was an Austrian historian.

Alfons Huber studied from 1855 to 1859 with Julius von Ficker at the University of Innsbruck. From 1860 he taught as a Privatdozent in 1863 as a full professor. In 1887 he became a professor at the University of Vienna. His main interest was in Austrian history - he was the author of a five-volume "History of Austria" - as well as the administrative and constitutional history. He acquired great contributions to the study of the sources. Huber was on the board of the Tiroler Landesmuseum. From 1867 he was a member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
