Alpine Meadows (ski resort)
Alpine Meadows is a ski area in California in Squaw Valley, Placer County.
Alpine Meadows is located between 2083 m and 2633 m west of Lake Tahoe. The ski resort covers an area of about 8 square kilometers and is served by a dozen ski lifts. There are a few places to stay, which is why most visitors choose a hotel in the nearby Tahoe City, Squaw Valley, Donner Pass, or Truckee.
On March 31, 1982, in Alpine Meadows a serious avalanche accident in which seven people died and the headquarters of the local avalanche warning service was destroyed occurred.
