Alsike, Sweden

Alsike is a place ( tätort ) in the province of Uppsala County and the historic province of Uppland. He is next to the main town Knivsta the second largest town in the municipality Knivsta.

For the first time in 1288 mentioned as Alseke, the name was originally the name for the village church. The prefix Al- means alder ' and is common to all interpretations, but no convincing explanation for the suffix has been found so far.
