So Mitra macrocarpa ( syn.. Macrozanonia macrocarpa (Blume ) Cogn, Zanonia macrocarpa Flower) is the only species of the monotypic genus Mitra So within the gourd family ( Cucurbitaceae ). It is widespread in Southeast Asia in the tropical lowland forest.

It grows as a climbing, perennial herbaceous plant.
