The Sporthalle Hamburg, also known as Alsterdorfer sports hall, in the Krochmannstraße 55 in Hamburg- Winterhude is one of the largest venues in Hamburg.

It has a capacity of about 7000 spectators ( 4200 seats) and was from its completion in 1968 until the opening of O2 World Hamburg in the public park in 2002, the main hall for music and sporting events in Hamburg. Even today you still find in regular concerts by well-known pop / rock artist and among other things, the Hamburg police sports festival.

The first final of a German sports federation, after the opening of the hall, the final ( 74:75 ) took place for the Cup of the German Basketball Federation, on 15 June 1969 between VfL Osnabrueck and the MTV casting instead.

The World Fencing Championships 1978 and the German Table Tennis Championships in 1980 and 2008 were held in the hall. From 8 to May 12, 2013 also the seventh U19 Floorball World Championship was held in the hall.

Furthermore, here those games of handball club HSV Hamburg are held, which are laid because of scheduling overlap with other games and events at the O2 World Hamburg or less audience expectations. Usually it involves Cup Games ( Champions League, DHB Cup ), especially in the early phase of the competition.

In addition to the indoor arena is since 2006, the athletics hall for training and competition.
