Alta Moda

Alta Moda was a Canadian radio / rock band of the 1980s. It consisted of singer Molly Johnson, the guitarist Norman Orenstein, the drummer Steven Gelineau and bassist Etric Lyons.

History

The band was founded in 1979 in Toronto, Ontario by singer Molly Johnson and guitarist Norman Orenstein. In 1982, the drummer Steven Gelineau joined the band in 1983, the bassist Etric Lyons.

The band got a recording contract with CBS Records and released her debut album in 1987. It contains the single Julian. Radio station criticized the song by the American radio - influence of the song. According to the radio stations they sounded too black. The song reached number 53 in 1988 in the Canadian charts in the week ending January 30.

Mid-1988, the band was fired from her record label. The band received a nomination in the same year at the Juno Award for Juno Award for R & B / Soul Recording of the Year.

The band often appeared live and meanwhile sought for a new record deal. Later, however, the band broke up and Orenstein and Johnson were then members of the band Big Sugar.
