Alwin Hammers

Alwin J. Hammer ( born November 2, 1942 in Bitburg, actually Alwin Hammel ) was professor of pastoral psychology at the Episcopal Seminary of Trier and teaching psychotherapist.

Life

Hammer grew up in the Eifel in Mürlenbach. After graduation, he entered the seminary in Trier and studied philosophy and theology there. Outside studies in Munich he met his current wife, with whom he has two children together. Then he decided to withdraw from the seminary and study psychology next to theology.

Hammer was for decades engaged in the pastoral psychological training of candidates for the priesthood in the Diocese of Trier at the local seminary. In the criticism hammer fell for a study he conducted in 1997, after about 25 % of all Catholic priests are homosexual.

He is among other things also Chairman of the Tennis Department of Trimmelter SV Trier. November 21, 2007 hammer was emeritus solemnly.
