Alytarches

The Alytarches (Greek: ἀλυτάρχης ) was the leader of the forces of order ( ἀλυται, alytai ), which for the recovery of fines against athletes that were imposed because of this rule violation, supported the Hellanodikai at the Olympic Games of antiquity. The rabdouchoi ( rod support ) and the mastigophoroi ( Scourge carrier ) carried out the punishment. Could an athlete not pay its penalty, had to stand in for him, his hometown.
