Alyzia ( Greek: Αλυζία ( f sg ) ) is a former municipality in Aetolia - Acarnania in western Greece. Since the administrative reform of 2010, it is integrated into the community Xiromero. She was named after the ancient city Alyzeia. The community Alyzia is located on the central west coast of Aetolia - Acarnania, near the island town of Kalamos. It has an area of ​​148,719 km ² and had 3,744 inhabitants in 2001. The parish seat was located in the city Kandila, the ancient city Alyzeia is immediately adjacent to the north-east.

Administrative divisions

The municipality was created in 1997 Alyzia through the implementation of the Greek community after the Kapodistrias reform program from the merger of five rural communities. Administrative reform in 2010 led Alyzia together with Astacus and Fyties together for newly created municipality Xiromero ( Dimos Xiormerou Δήμος Ξηρομέρου ). The previous communities form municipal districts, the former municipal districts are towns that choose their own local representatives.
