Amanda Vanstone

Amanda Vanstone ( born December 7, 1952 in Adelaide, South Australia ) is an Australian politician.

Life

After her schooling Vanstone studied at the University of Adelaide art and law.

Vanstone was a member of the Liberal Party of Australia. In 1984 she reached the as Senator in the Australian Senate, where she was employed until 2007.

From 1996 to 1997 Vanstone was Minister of Labour, Education and Youth. From 2001 to 2003, Vanstone Minister for Families, Housing and Public Service. From 2003 to 2006 Vanstone was Minister for Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs. From 2006 to 2007 Vanstone was Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. She is married to lawyer Tony Vanstone.

In June 2007, Vanstone was appointed Australian Ambassador to Italy.
