History

In the early 1980s, this band was with South American - Caribbean background, four women and a male drummer, together in England. It was discovered by Falcon Stuart, the manager of Adam & The Ants, and brought in 1983 her first single, titled Cairo out. You could not make it though to the Top 75, but was still a moderate success in the UK. After two more unsuccessful singles in 1985 succeeded Amazulu Excitable with the breakthrough. This and the follow-up single Do not You Just Know It, a cover version of 60s Hits Do not Ha Ha by the governor, reached the British Top 20

With cover versions they put then also continued their success. The Soul Title Too Good To Be Forgotten, a top - 10 hit the Chi - Lites from the 1970s, was in their reggae version not only in England with number 5 their biggest hit, so that one has also attracted international attention Amazulu. Like the re-recording of Bobby Bloom Montego Bay hit, the song was played in Germany very often on the radio and with two singles they could go into Germany and in the U.S. in the charts.

In addition to the cheerful reggae hits, Amazulu but quite concerned with critical issues such as social and minority problems. Your band name -bearing album Amazulu contained correspondingly quieter, less cheerful numbers. It was not so good at the plate buyers.

Discrepancies in the band and decreasing success led then to a final Top 40 hit, Mony Mony - Tommy James & the original of The Shondells - 1987 separation. The singer Annie Ruddock, Lesley Beach and Sharon Bailey tried yet as Amazulu II to build on the successes, what they did not succeed. Only by bassist Claire Kenny was heard afterwards as an accompanying musician of Shakespear's Sister or Sinéad O'Connor something else.
