Mony Mony

Mony Mony is a song by Tommy James & the Shondells in 1968, which was written by Tommy James, Bo Gentry, Ritchie Cordell, and Bobby Bloom. It was released as a single and on the eponymous album.

History

When writing the script songwriter from MONY let the building in 1740 Broadway in New York City inspire.

" True story: I had the rough draft finished before I found a title. I wanted something Catchy like " Sloopy " or " Bony Maroney " use, but it sounded stupid. So Ritchie Cordell and I wrote another part of the song in New York City and wanted to give up. When I walked into my terrace, I saw the " Mutual of New York " building and its brilliant initials. I cried, " That's it! Ritchie, come here, that you have to see! It's almost as if God is telling us, "Here is your title " I always thought I would have looked the other way, the song might have been called Taft Hotel ".

The release of the single was held on February 2, 1968; UK rock song became a number -one hit and there was also the only Top Ten success of the band.

Cover version of Billy Idol

In 1981, the Billy Idol classic scratch. Only in a live version, released on October 2, 1987, this cover was successful. It solved Tiffany version of I Think We're Alone Now, which also comes in the original by Tommy James & the Shondells, starting in the United States # 1 on the charts. In Canada, reached # 1 on the hit parade Idols version.
