Amda Seyon I.

Amda Seyon I ( äthiop. ዐምደ ጽዮን, dt " column of Zion " epithet Gabra Masqal ገብረ መስቀል, dt "Servant of the Cross" ) (* 1314, † 1344) was an Ethiopian emperor.

As regent he consolidated the empire and extended his borders from. His rule brought a consolidation of the Christian empire, so that the Ethiopian Church, although it was him at the beginning of his reign with the clergy in the dispute, recorded in the series of Saints ( Senkessär ). In his reign, it also has a cultural boom, particularly given in Ethiopian literature.
