América Móvil

América Móvil is a Mexican company with headquarters in Mexico City. The company is the largest mobile operator in Latin America. América Móvil is listed on the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores in Índice de Precios y Cotizaciones (IPC).

Chairman of the company is Carlos Slim Helú. Around 41,000 people are employed by the company (as of 2007). The company has 245.969 million mobile customers (as at 31 March 2012).

In August 2007, the Jamaican mobile operator Oceanic Digital was acquired.

2010 increased América Móvil the Dutch telecoms group KPN one, bought and held on to in June 2012 already 29.8 % of the shares. In August 2013 América Móvil makes an attempt to take over the entire Dutch group.

Also at the Austrian Telekom Austria the Mexican company has been involved since May 2012, increased its share until March 2013 to 23.7 %, which was the second largest shareholder. Slim took over the shares of Telekom Austria primarily from the Austrian investor Ronny Pecik, which was only started in September 2011 at Telekom Austria with 20 percent.
