The American Foxhound is one of the FCI (No. 303, Gr. 6, sec 1) recognized breed of dog in the United States. The breed is the official State Dog of the U.S. state of Virginia.

Origin and History

The American Foxhound was created gradually by hybridizing different breeds. Among his ancestors are French run and pack of dogs, English Foxhounds, Harrier and German bloodhounds. It originated several American Foxhound types, depending on the type of hunting. Description

The American Foxhound is closely related to the English Foxhound.
