American Heritage Rivers
American Heritage Rivers (from English " heritage": heritage, legacy ) are reported by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to give special attention and in three respects: the protection of natural resources and the environment, economic revitalization and preservation of history and culture. The efforts of various governmental organizations to be coordinated.
The initiative was launched by President Bill Clinton by Executive Order 13061 on September 11, 1997.
List of rivers
President Clinton declared on 30 July 1998 a total of 14 rivers or river systems to American Heritage Rivers.
- Blackstone River and Woonasquatucket River ( MA, RI)
- Connecticut River ( NH, VT, MA, CT)
- Cuyahoga River ( OH)
- Detroit River ( MI, ON)
- Hanalei River ( HI)
- Hudson River ( NY)
- Lower Mississippi River (LA, TN, AR) Wolf River in Memphis
