American Oil Chemists' Society

The American Oil Chemists' Society ( AOCS, American Oil Chemists Society ) is a company incorporated in May 1909 under the name Society of Cotton Products Analysts professional organization for chemists, dealing with the chemistry of oils and fats. The name was changed in 1920 in American Oil Chemists' Society. The company is based in Champaign (Illinois ). The AOCS is concerned with the chemistry of oils and fats, in particular bleaching methods yield of cellulose, paint, grease analysis, glycerin analysis, refining, analysis of oilseeds and ground material, analysis of soaps and synthetic detergents, technical safety and uniform methods. Thus one of the main trade bodies that deal with oilseeds and fats from agriculture.

Publications

As of 1924, the Company publishes a journal, the Journal of the Oil and Fat Industries. In 1927 the publication in Oil and Fat Industries was renamed in 1932 in Oil and Soap, and from 1947 the Journal of the American Oil Chemist Society ( JAOCS ). The institution Inform AOCS provides members the latest information on activities of the professional association. In addition, the AOCS published two magazines, Lipids and the Journal of the American Oil Chemists ' Society.

Associations

The AOCS is represented in six working groups of the International Organisation for Standardisation ( ISO) as an A- liaison, that is, the contributions are seen as effective contributions to the work of ISO.
