American Sociological Association

The American Sociological Association (ASA ) was founded in 1905 in the U.S. (as the American Sociological Society) and is a Society for the Promotion of sociology as a discipline and profession.

First president of the company was Lester Frank Ward, current President (2013 ) is Cecilia L. Ridgeway.

The ASA holds annual conferences and published from several academic journals, including the "American Sociological Review ". It has about 14,000 members ( academic teachers, students, researchers and professionals ), most among the sociological professional organizations worldwide.
