Amii Stewart

Amii Stewart ( born January 29, 1956 Amy Paulette Stewart in Washington, DC) is an American pop singer, dancer and actress. At the height of the disco wave of the 1970s, Stewart scored a worldwide hit with Knock on Wood.

Career

Amii Stewart's father when he was only four years old to singing and dancing lessons, which ultimately led to a very successful career. Before she signed a recording contract with Hansa International, Stewart appeared in the stage production Bubbling Brown Sugar on Broadway.

Their first single, a disco cover version of Eddie Floyd's 1966 hit Knock on Wood, reached a number 1 position in the U.S. in April 1979. Subsequently, the single was certified platinum for one million units sold, a Grammy nomination for " Best Female R & B Vocal Performance" joined them. Stewart's debut album, simply titled Knock on Wood and recorded in London in 1979 received a Gold award. In the U.S., the song Knock on Wood was her only Top 40 success, so that it is viewed as a one hit wonder, while they are still able to celebrate some more success in Europe - especially in Italy. The follow-up single Light My Fire/137 Disco Heaven climbed into the UK was ranked fifth

The second LP from Stewart, Paradise Bird, continued the disco sound of Knock on Wood, the single from the Jealousy placed throughout Europe in the charts. In Italy, Sweden and Switzerland, the piece even reached the top 10. With their 1981's LP Images Stewart turned gradually from the disco sound. The single from the Where Did Our Love Go was produced by Narada Michael Walden. 1984 Stewart managed a 1st place in Italy, Single Friends also creates space 12 in the UK. That same year, Stewart managed another great success with an Italian cover of Bob Seger We've Got Tonight, grace was perchè recorded as a duet with Gianni Morandi. More Duets been developed also with Johnny Bristol, Deon Estus, Mike Francis and Randy Crawford. Stewart also worked with Giorgio Moroder together (1986) and published a collection of Ennio Morricone - pieces under the title Pearls.

In 1994, Stewart for the album Lady to Ladies Gold award in Italy. The work, published in 1999 Unstoppable included both new songs and re-recorded versions of some of their old hits. Five years later, Stewart appeared as Billie Holiday in Lady Day, a CD with recordings of the musical was also published.

Contrary to the different sources Stewart is not the sister of Miquel Brown and therefore not the aunt of Sinitta. In an interview, Brown confirmed that she and Stewart were only best friends.
