Amma Darko

Ophelia Amma Darko ( born June 26, 1956 in Koforidua ) is a Ghanaian writer.

Life

Darko has studied at the University in Kumasi ( Ghana) and there in 1980 earned her diploma. She has worked in the technology consulting center at the University. In 1981 she went Germany and applied for asylum. In Hildesheim she earned her living as a laborer. These experiences were incorporated into her first novel. In 1988, she was able to return to Ghana. She lives with her family in Accra and works in the tax administration.

Her novels give a profound insight into the Ghanaian everyday life. Amma Darko's first novel, " The selling Dream " plays in Germany. He has been laid in Germany. Her novel, " The Faceless Ones " (2003 ) is the first, which was also published in Ghana. Her latest novel, "The Smile of Nemesis ", appeared in 2006.
