Amora (mustard)

The Amora Amora Maille brand belongs to the Société Industrielle, a company based in Dijon, the capital of the French department of Côte- d'Or.

History

Since 1999, Amora is part of the Unilever Group (purchase price 715 million Euros ) and is engaged in the production of mustard, seasoning sauces and related products, such as salad dressings. In addition to manufacturing, the company works in Dijon operates among others in Chevigny and Appoigny. All plants are certified according to ISO 9002. The brand became famous especially by the Dijon mustard, which must be made ​​according to a defined production process.

The brand goes back to the vinegar production by François Naigeon in 1703 and used since 1756. Armand Bizouard this company took over in 1919, he allowed himself to protect the brand and the products sold from now on under his surname as a trade name. Raymond Sachot, who led the company 1931-1972, was the brand resurrected in 1934 after a trademark of Bloomingdale's expired.

End of the seventies of competitors and Amora Maille come under the umbrella of Gervais Danone and will be merged.

On 1 April 2005 the new innovation center opened in Dijon, in which 65 people from 14 countries to expand the product range of Amora and to align the products for different tastes habits of each country.

The company operated until 2006 also has a museum, the Musée Amora Dijon.
