Amtsgericht Meiningen

The District Court of Meiningen is a court of general jurisdiction and the largest of the six district courts in the judicial district of the District Court of Meiningen and is one of 23 district courts in Thuringia.

Seat of the court and district

The court is located in the district town of Meiningen in Southern Thuringia. The jurisdiction extends to the county Schmalkalden- Meiningen (without Zella-Mehlis and Oberhof ) with a total population of 124,000.

In addition to the Land Registry the district court Meiningen is a trade and club register and one of the four Thuringian bankruptcy courts attached, which is responsible for the reminder and insolvency proceedings within the jurisdiction of the District Court of Meiningen.

Since 1 January 2013 the District Court of Meiningen is also central enforcement court for the State of Thuringia.

Buildings and personnel

The district court resides along with the District Court of Meiningen, the prosecutor Meiningen, the Administrative Court of Meiningen and the Social Court of Meiningen in the newly built Justice Center Meiningen in the lime avenue 15 north of the old town and the English Garden in the center of Meiningen. Here it is housed together with the Land Registry in meeting building.

At the District Court of Meiningen are busy 13 judges, 40 employees in the intermediate service, 19 employees in the upscale service and seven bailiff.

History

The District Court of Meiningen was founded on October 1, 1879 as one of 16 district courts in the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen. By 1945 it had its headquarters in the building of the District Court of Meiningen in Bismarck Street 14 (now Neu-Ulm Street). After its destruction on February 23, 1945 by a bomb attack, the judicial authority moved the district court to the former hotel " Prince " in the Sedan road (now Ludwig Chronegk Street). By renaming the District Court of Meiningen in the course of administrative reform and the formation of the districts in East Germany in 1952 it had to give the volunteers jurisdiction. After the German reunification in 1990, the court regained jurisdiction and the volunteers received again the name " District Court of Meiningen ." On June 3, 1995, an arson attack on the district court building in which many files were destroyed. The district court was then moved to a large mansion in the Charlotte Street. In 2000, the parade was held in the newly constructed Justice Center Meiningen on the site of the former main barracks.
