Amy Jacques Garvey
Amy Jacques Garvey (* 1896 in Kingston, Jamaica, † 1973, ibid ) was a journalist and an important pioneer of the Pan-African movement.
Life
Garvey was born in Jamaica and moved in 1917 to the United States. There she met her future husband, Marcus Garvey, and led with him the work of the Universal Negro Improvement Association ( UNIA ), whose chairman was later. She was editor of the Notices issued by the organization newspaper, The Negro World.
