Amy Peterson

Amy Eileen Peterson ( born November 29, 1971 in Maplewood, Minnesota) is a former American short track speed skater and Olympic gold medalist.

Amy Peterson began her athletic career as a figure skater. Later she moved to Eisschnellläuf. Between the demonstration competitions at the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary, and the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, she participated in five Olympic Winter Games in part. Greatest success was winning the silver medal in the relay in Albertville in 1992 and two-time winning a bronze medal at the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer over 500 meters and with the relay. In 1998, she won the Trials and missed in fourth over 1000 meters only just another medal. Was complicated by Petersen's career before the Games in 1998 by the chronic fatigue syndrome, in which they suffered.

Nine times, 1993 to 1996, 1998 to 2002, Petersen was U.S. all-around champion. They benefited not least by the absence Cathie Turner in the non-Olympic periods. She studied at Concordia University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Peterson started for the clubs Midway Speedskating Club and Saratoga Springs Winter Club. She was trained by Pat Maxwell and previously also by Andy fork, which by its own account was a model for Peterson. After the Games in 2002, she ended her career and became a trainer in the U.S. federation.
