Anapos

Anapos in Greek mythology was a Sicilian river deity. The Anapo today called river originates at Monte Lauro in the Hyblaean Mountains and empties into the harbor of Syracuse.

He was joined by Ovid with the nymph Kyane whose Cyane River empties into the Anapo.

The marshy estuary ( Lysimeleia Limne ) was unhealthy and had at armies that besieged the city of Syracuse in ancient times, easy to break epidemics.

After Diodorus was Dionysius I of Syracuse to build schools on Anapo.
