Anax

Anax (Greek ἄναξ, originally ϝ άναξ wanax, of Mycenaean 𐀷 𐀙 𐀏 wa -na- ka) was probably the name of the "king" in archaic Greece. The word is a noun form for the verb "to lead ( an army ) " ϝ αν - άγειν. Recently, however, was established by the ancient historian Tassilo Schmitt, the thesis that there had been no time in Mycenaean monarch, and wa -na- ka was the name of a god. Whether this position will prevail remains to be seen. Homer in any case needed some centuries after the Mycenaeans Anax as the title of a " high king " in the mythical past (but not in his own presence ).

Derived from the scientific name is Anax ( Greater and Lesser Emperor Dragonfly ) for the genus, the king dragonflies.
